Van Gogh Gets His Own iPhone App

You may have heard of Vincent van Gogh. He’s kind of famous — he happened to do a bit of painting, and quite a few people seem to enjoy his work (and by quite a few, I mean millions). But you know you’re not truly famous until you have your very own iPhone application.
That’s why the Van Gogh Museum is hooking him up with his own app. In fact, it is the first museum in Europe to come out with an iPhone app so far.
The app is called “Yours, Vincent” and will be out on the App Store starting October 6. It chronicles his life through his letters and his paintings.
According to the Museum’s website,
The application offers people with an iPhone or an iPod touch the unique opportunity to get acquainted with Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) also at home and even while traveling.
Van Gogh takes the users of the application on a tour through his life and his art on the basis of his letters. The facilities offered by iPhone, such as audio, video and zooming in on paintings and letters, will be exploited. That way an iPhone allows the user to get closer to the works of art than would ever be possible in a museum.
Yours, Vincent will be available as a free download on the App Store this upcoming Tuesday.
