Push POP and IMAP Email a go With Ultimate Notifier
What all began with a shared frustration of the lack of Gmail push email on the iPhone has now turned into a brand new upcoming app called Ultimate Notifier, which enables push notifications to be sent to you anytime you get a new email. This includes those pesky POP and IMAP accounts that have plagued iPhone users since the device first came out.

In fact, not only will it send push notifications about emails, it will send them for RSS feed updates, Twitter or Friendfeed updates, and more.
A couple other features worth noting on Ultimate Notifier:
- Instead of reading the whole email, just see a summary and decide whether or not you want to read the whole thing.
- Set pulling periods for popular feeds, so the servers aren’t overloaded.
- Silent period that turns off the notifications during a specific time of day, so you don’t get woken up at night by an email.
- The app has its own API so devs can apply the formula to their own apps.
So far it sounds like it’s still in beta testing, so keep a close eye on it to be coming on the horizon soon. No word yet on pricing, if there is even any. I imagine it costing some small amount for the functionality you’re being given, but if executed properly this app will become incredibly popular quickly.
