Frog Army has announced that its new iPhone app, YoFrog, has been submitted to the App Store. YoFrog is an app designed solely to let groups of friends have their own private chat room without going through a standard IM service.

It looks like you will just need to sign up for the service with username and password, and then invite your friends by requesting their username as well.

Sometime soon the company plans to release an app specifically for Yahoo! Messenger, and last week Yahoo put out a video on its blog showing all the features the app will have.

Some features on the Messenger app will include:

  • Integrates with iPhone camera and photo library, letting you add pictures to your conversations
  • “No signout” — stays online even when phone goes to sleep or you leave the app, changing your status to idle
  • Send SMS from the app to your friends’ phones, cost-free
  • Type web addresses into your conversations
