Few apps have successfully offered internet TV for the iPhone. In fact, I could probably count them all on my fingers. Some apps are now having success in enabling live TV streaming or uploading, such as UStream or Qik, but that’s about the extent of TV on the iPhone beyond YouTube.

That’s where Stay Tuned is trying to make its debut. Developed by Codefurious, Stay Tuned will start off by offering one single channel live, and expand channels and features later down the road. Here’s the full explanation on the Stay Tuned official website:

The internet has a lot of great video content: video blogs, game and movie trailers, video podcasts, machinima, fan films, internet tv shows and webseries. All this great content, and yet viewers have to track it all down themselves. That’s where we come in.

The Stay Tuned iPhone app will be a single part of a much larger endeavor. We at Codefurious are developing a broadcasting system designed specifically to help viewers watch great internet content. The initial format will be much the same as traditional TV, with a single channel available at launch. And we will expand features and channel selection from there.

So of course I’m intrigued, but the information on this particular channel being offered is extremely vague. What kind of internet content will this channel have? Will the app catch on if the general public doesn’t get to choose what they watch? Hopefully we’ll get answers soon.

Now that a lot of states ban texting while driving, all hope has been lost. Or has it?

Promptu is making a name for itself by releasing a whole slew of voice-activated apps which allow you to convert your voice into text. The developer’s next app, ShoutOUT, uses the voice-to-text format and lets you apply it to actual SMS messages.

That’s right — instead of having to type your texts out, you can simply speak into the mic and let the app do all the work for you.

In addition to converting to SMS, you’ll be able to update your Facebook and Twitter status the same way.

It’s pretty rare to find such an app, so the question is about how well the software can pick up your voice. If it is pretty accurate, Promptu will have a very successful app that everyone will be using as the perfect alternative to texting-and-driving.

We hope it’s a reasonable price and that it can be used via Bluetooth, but those details are not available yet at this time.

The newest iPhone game that’s catching buzz is called iLickit, and it’s catching buzz for all the wrong reasons. Just as the title suggests, this iPhone game is controlled by your tongue. This is truly taking the iPhone’s multitouch technology to an extreme, and in ways I don’t think it was ever intended.

Premise: you get a plate of food from grandma, and you have to lick it clean. Hence, the tongue usage.

All we’ve heard is that is coming soon to an app store near you.

And according to the developer, Majic Jungle Software, “With a completely re-written 3D game engine, all new enemies, weapons, graphics, and missions, while still retaining the classic side scrolling game-play, it should be worth the wait.”

Chopper 2 should be available sometime by the end of the year.

It will be intriguing to see how these will work on the iPhone and if the game experience is as good as on larger consoles such as the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Usually in comparison it isn’t as good on the iPhone, but perhaps EA has found a way to integrate the faster processing power of the iPhone 3GS to allow for a better game. We are certainly looking forward to learning more about how this will all happen.

Will we be able to coordinate our iPhone EA accounts with the ones on the larger consoles? That would certainly help make the game more universal across all gaming platforms.

The concept behind Power On is so simple I wonder why I didn’t think of it myself. It allows you to remotely turn on or wake up any of the computers in your network.

How could this be of any benefit? With Power On you can wake your sleeping Mac and then play iTunes music using Apple’s Remote App, all without leaving your couch.

I suspect that the computers can only be woken up if your iPhone is in the network as well, meaning you’d have to be within the same WiFi zone and it would not work on 3G. I will keep you updated if I find out differently, however.

My other suggestion for future updates is to add an option to Power Off (or put to sleep) these same devices once you’re done using them.

Power On is still a great idea and I hope it can be implemented flawlessly. It was submitted to the App Store on July 16, so we should be seeing it in less than 8 days.

PowerOn’s Twitter Account

Called ElectricFM, the app will focus on streaming dance/electronica music and will be available for free if and when it’s approved. If you’re still skeptical about downloading it for yourself even though it is free, check out the website where the same station is currently streaming.

As a fan of dance and techno I will be checking out the app once it comes out, and certainly will be putting it to the test. Will it hold itself up in the vast crowd of other internet radio apps out there? Time will tell.

ElectricFM on Twitter

Submitted to Apple for approval today, Birdbrain gives you an overview of your friend and follower counts and shows changes to these counts over the last month (on a daily and weekly basis). It will also handle multiple Twitter accounts.

Tap on a user to load more information, to follow/unfollow, view each person’s timeline or even block them. Birdbrain allows easy management, which can come in handy when you have a large account that requires frequent attention.

It’s an interesting idea and I’m eager to check it out. No word on pricing yet, but I’m not sure if I’d personally be willing to pay much more than a buck or two for it. Follow the Birdbrain Twitter account to get all the latest updates and find out when the app will hit the App Store.

Months in the making, DataViz finally broke the news that its biggest product, Documents to Go, has been submitted to the App Store. This means we should expect to see the document-editing application available “very soon”; in other words, within the next week if everything goes well.

But let’s not get too excited until it actually makes its way out. No word on pricing yet, so keep your eyes peeled.

Gamevil announced Friday on its Twitter feed that Zenonia, a much-anticipated RPG for the iPhone, has been submitted to the App Store. In other words, get ready because here it comes.

Zenonia is already immensely popular in Korea as a mobile RPG, so there are many who are looking forward to playing it elsewhere in the world. Fortunately we don’t have to wait too much longer.

Claiming to offer 40 hours of gameplay, this will certainly be worth whatever cost it comes at. No word on price yet, but I’m willing to guess it will be between $5-10.

For a good formal introduction to the world of Zenonia, check out this 10 minute video. If you already are familiar with the storyline, skip halfway through the video to get a better glimpse at gameplay. From the video I was quite impressed by the graphics and capabilities of the game.
